What is Clean Trax

The active ingredient in CleanTrax is oxyclorsine. The chemical structure is unique.  First, a chlorine-based compound has been structured in a way that it will not freely dissociate.  Most chlorine-based substances (bleach, pool chlorine, chlorine dioxide [White Lightning]) come apart upon exposure to air, releasing free chlorine, with the following consequences: a) they only kill surface growth and do not kill fungal spores; and they cause water to dissociate to capture the hydrogen, forming dilute hydrochloric acid, which is necrotizing and burns tissue on contact. Second, the stabilized chlorine-based compound is linked to a monomeric oxygen, which gives the whole compound a charge and makes it extremely surface active, allowing it to rapidly penetrate small crevices.  Monomeric oxygen will also penetrate a spore coat and kill spores.

When oxyclorsine contacts organic material, such as a hoof, the chlorine-based compound and the monomeric oxygen begin to separate, a process which takes about 100 minutes to be complete, thus, two 45 minute soaks with effective penetration of the hoofs.  Both the chlorine-based compound and the monomeric oxygen are volatile and begin to vaporize once they are in the hoof layers, attacking fungus and fungal spores with two active substances in both the liquid and vapor states.

How to Use Clean Trax - (one bottle treats two hooves)

Remove shoes, dirt and debris from the hoofPour the entire contents of one bottle of Clean Trax into 3.8 litres (UK) container of cool or lukewarm waterPut vinyle Clean Trax boots on horse's leg (Must be a closed boot system, no open boots or buckets, ideally a Clean Trax Soaking Boot)Pour entire contents of solution into closed boot systemClose the boot, and time yourself 45 minutesAfter soaking, remove the boot from one hoof and move to another. Do not rinseor dry the soaked hoof. Cover the soaked hoof with an ordinary plastic bag (or another Clean Trax boot) pulling tight or sealing the top of the bag, and allow vapours to penetrate for 30 minutesPlace the boot on the second hoof with original solution, close the boots and time yourself 45 minutesRepeat vapourising process with the other Clean Trax boot or plastic bag pulling tight or sealing the top of the bag.

* The old solution can be used on stable floors or trailers etc., to help eliminate bacteria, fungi and spores
* This solution is also good for rain rot, or fungus on the horse's body - you can use the old solution for up to 2 hours after soaking as a topical treatment
